Networks - Network Maintenance
Description:
The Why -
Our network size, network complexity and capacity with our upstream peering has greatly increased over the last year which means that some necessary upgrades are in order. The upgrade will result in higher network capacity along with newer models of line cards on our edge routing equipment. This upgrade will allow for higher packet-per-second (PPS) throughput and help us prepare for additional network growth.
The What -
We're upgrading our edge routing equipment and converging our layer2 to our 1515 Round Table (Carrier-1) Facility. This allows double the capacity compared to what is now in layer2 aspect. We are also adding Telia to our network blend, which we’ve been testing in our other facilities and have seen that they provide better connectivity to Europe and South America.
We’ve also seen the average size of DDoS attacks grow, so we will be adding higher capacity firewalls. In the past we were unable to upgrade our firewalls because we needed to upgrade our network capacity, so this August 22nd network upgrade will allow us to also upgrade our firewall equipment.
Though the work window may be long, the actual estimated outage time is only 5-10 minutes, but can happen at any time within the detailed window below:
Details -
